The American League Division Series began yesterday, without the Guardians. The National League Division Series also do not feature the Guardians, but that somehow bothers me less.

Regardless of how it would have turned out this season, this makes a ton of sense in terms of making the regular season matter more and needs to be adopted at some point (probably when they expand the league and playoffs).

The aforementioned Tigers won 3-2 yesterday in the 11th, the Blue Jays won 10-1 (boo, Kevin Gausman), the Dodgers won 5-3 and the Brewers won 9-4. ALDS games 2 are today.
