ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – One of the best baseball players on the stateline has made his college decision. Byron’s Andrew Talbert has chosen to play for North Carolina.
Andrew was instrumental for the Tigers last year as a pitcher. In a game that clinched the Big Northern Championship for Byron against North Boone, Andrew didn’t allow a hit and notched seven strikeouts in nearly five innings.
That type of arm talent has helped Byron on the gridiron the last few seasons, where Talbert has been the starting quarterback.
North Carolina is one of the best baseball schools in the country. The Tar Heels have advanced to the NCAA 16-team Super Regionals in three of the past four seasons.
