Manhattan High volleyball put together another strong showing Saturday at the Centennial League Tournament, winning four of five matches to move to 19-6 overall.

The Indians tallied a three-set victory over Emporia, rallying after dropping the first frame to win 21-25, 25-17, 25-14. Manhattan added a tight two-set win over Hayden, 27-25, 25-23, then swept Junction City 25-16, 25-7.

Manhattan continued to roll with a 25-23, 25-15 win over Topeka High but saw its only loss on the day against host Washburn Rural. The Junior Blues, who overtook the Indians for No. 2 in the 6A West standings, edged out a 25-18, 17-25, 25-20 decision.

The 4-1 showing marked another strong weekend in a month that’s seen Manhattan climb up the Class 6A West standings and continue to find success against top competition. The Indians have now won 14 of their last 17 matches while establishing themselves as one of the top contenders heading into postseason play.

Manhattan returns to action next week with more league play before turning its focus to sub-state positioning later this month.

Manhattan traveled to Blue Valley West on Monday before hosting the Manhattan Invitational on Saturday morning.Â
