Fortunately for the Seattle Mariners, the Seahawks’ last-second loss Sunday a few hours earlier did not cast bad mojo over T-Mobile Park next door.

The Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Sunday, tying the best-of-five playoff at one game each as the series moves to Detroit for Game 3 on Tuesday.

It was Seattle’s first home playoff win in 24 years since the magical 2001 season, when the Mariners won 116 games but fell in the American League Championship Series.

Game 3 in Detroit is scheduled for broadcast at 1:08 p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, followed by Game 4 in Detroit on Wednesday at 12:08 p.m. Pacific Time — both on Fox Sports 1. If necessary, Game 5 will be in Seattle on Friday at 1:40 p.m. local time, also on Fox Sports 1. (Note to employers: Worker productivity could wane in the afternoon this week for two or three days.)

Logan Gilbert will take the mound Tuesday for the M’s.

The winner of the Seattle-Detroit series will advance to the American League Championship Series to play the winner of the New York Yankees-Toronto Blue Jays matchup, which Toronto leads 2-0. The series returns to the Bronx for Game 3 on Tuesday. Game time is 5:08 p.m. Pacific Time on Fox Sports 1.

If the Mariners manage to advance and the Yankees somehow rebound from an 0-2 deficit versus Toronto, it would mark an ALCS rematch of 2001, Ichiro Suzuki’s rookie season in MLB.
