CARTHAGE 8, KENNEDALE 0: EMORY – Cade Ross tossed two-hit shutout, Brooks Soape drove in two runs and the Carthage Bulldogs closed out a Class 4A regional semifinal sweep of Kennedale with an 8-0 win.
Carthage (19-14-1) advances to face district rival Spring Hill in the regional semifinals in a series set to begin on Thursday at ETBU in Marshall.
Ross struck out two with no walks, and Carthage gave him all the run support he would need with a 3-run first inning.
Cale Preston singled twice and scored three times for Carthage, and River Leach, Kaden Ritter, Ross and Blayton LaGrone all drove in runs.
C. SPRING 11, BULLARD 6: CHINA SPRING — China Spring scored five early runs en route to an 11-6 win over Bullard on Saturday, sweeping the Class 4A Region III baseball semifinal on Saturday.
The Cougars (31-4) won Game 1, 17-5, on Thursday in Bullard. China Spring meets Lumberton in the regional final.
Bullard ended its season at 27-9, winning the District 17-4A championship with a 10-0 record.
Jackson Holt had a triple for the Panthers with a double from Kage Korenek.
Krew Korenek, Tate Wynne and Atley Jones added singles for Bullard.
Knocking in runs were Holt (2), Kage Korenek (2), Krew Korenek (1) and Dylan Fowler (1).
The Cougars had doubles from Dean Hannah, Hudson Brown and Jacob Klement.
Hannah had two hits for the Cougars. RBIs were from Greyson Brooks (2), Dillon Bowers (2), Hannah (1), Jackson Fetters (1) and Garrett Maddox (1).
In Thursday’s game, the Cougars belted four home runs — Hannah (2: solo, 3-run), Jaxon Knapp (grand slam) and Fetters (solo).
Fowler had a two-run homer for the Panthers.
Adding hits were Ty Rigsby, Holt and Ty Whitehead (double). Whitehead joined Fowler with two RBIs.
N. DIANA 4, PARADISE 3: CRANDALL – Colt McDowell went the distance on the mound for New Diana, and the Eagles closed out a sweep of a Class 3A regional semifinal with a 4-3 win over Paradise.
The Eagles (26-7-1) advance to the regional finals to take on Boyd next week at Dallas Baptist University in a series that starts on Thursday.
McDowell walked one and allowed three earned runs on six hits in seven innings. The Eagles broke a 3-3 deadlock with a run in the top of the fifth.
McDowell also had two hits and drove in two runs for New Diana. Justice Hankins added two hits, and Keaton Bogue drove in a run.
OVERTON 3, GARY 1: HALLSVILLE – After dropping the opening game of a Class 3A regional semifinal series against Gary (2-1) on Thursday, the Overton Mustangs bounced back to earn 7-5 and 3-1 wins over the Bobcats on Saturday to advance to the regional finals.
Overton (27-6) will take on Beckville in a series that starts on Wednesday at Longview’s Lobo Field.
In the 3-1 win, Landon Hill struck out six and walked three while giving up no earned runs on five hits for Overton. At the plate, Mason Bowe doubled and Brody Brown drove in a run for the Mustangs.
In the 7-5 win, Rylan Holleman blasted a grand slam in the top of the third to give the Mustangs a 5-0 lead. Holleman also doubled and singled for Overton, and Brown, Mason Rowe and Braxton Harper all drove in runs.
Holleman struck out six and walked four in seven innings for the pitching win.
AVALON 7, U. HILL 6: EDGEWOOD – Avalon completed a sweep of a Class A regional semifinal series with a 7-6 win over Union Hill.
Payton Harkins, Jakoby Sumner and E.J. Mowery all pitched for Union Hill.
Eli Mendoza tripled and singled, driving in a run for Union Hill. Sumner added two singles and two RBI, and Wyatt Orsburn and Curran McGaughy both chipped in with RBI for the Bulldogs.
