Baseball’s postseason isn’t even half over, but already, teams are getting a sense about what some players will be paid next season.
MLBTradeRumors.com annually predicts what salary arbitration-eligible players will make and does so with accuracy.
The site projects that Nathaniel Lowe, signed as a free agent after being released by Washington in August, will make the most in arbitration among Sox players. But because Lowe is projected to make $13.5 million, the Red Sox could well non-tender him. They could then re-sign him at a lesser figure or allow him to become a free agent.
The deadline to offer salary arbitration-eligible and pre-eligible players has not yet been set, but usually, it occurs in the last 10 days of November.
Player and teams exchange their figures in January. Often, that leads to agreement. If not, salary arbitration hearings are held in February, with an arbiter choosing either the player’s figure or the team’s.
The Red Sox have nine players who are eligible for arbitration this winter. That’s about average for the industry. Within the AL East, the Tampa Bay Rays have 17 player eligible with Baltimore and New York both at 14 and the Toronto Blue Jays at seven.
Here’s what MLBTradeRumors.com projects for the Red Sox players’ 2026 salaries:
