Julio Rodríguez delivered the big hit on Sunday night as the Mariners won their first home playoff game since 2001. Rodríguez’s double in the bottom of the eighth scored Cal Raleigh and lifted Seattle to a 3-2 victory to tie the series at a game apiece. Jorge Polanco had given the M’s a 2-0 lead with a pair of home runs off reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.

The Tigers tied the game in the eighth when Spencer Torkelson stroked a two-run double off reliever Matt Brash, who wound up getting the win. Detroit managed just three hits off five Seattle pitchers while drawing five walks and benefiting from Josh Naylor’s fielding error in the eighth. The Tigers were 0-3 against the Mariners at home this season, dropping a three-game sweep in mid-July after taking two of three in Seattle early in the campaign.

The Tigers give the ball to veteran right-hander Jack Flaherty (8-15), who took a no-decision in Detroit’s Game 2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Wild Card Series after working 4.2 innings. The M’s go with right-hander Logan Gilbert (6-6), who last worked on Sept. 27 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This is a great MLB baseball matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
