The Athletics end their debut season in West Sacramento with MLB’s lowest home attendance.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Athletics have wrapped up their inaugural season at Sutter Health Park, and the team will look to boost attendance heading into their second year in West Sacramento.

Through 81 home games at the minor league venue, the A’s finished their first season in West Sacramento with the lowest home attendance in Major League Baseball.

The team drew a total of 768,464 fans — an average of 9,487 per game — both league lows, according to ESPN.

By comparison, the Los Angeles Dodgers led MLB in home attendance, averaging 49,536 fans per game at Dodger Stadium, which seats 56,000.

Capacity at Dodger Stadium is a stark contrast to the much smaller Sutter Health Park, which holds 14,014 fans — including 10,632 bowl seats and space for 2,566 fans on the Toyota Home Run Hill, according to the River Cats.

The Tampa Bay Rays, who also play in a minor league ballpark, outdrew the A’s this season, averaging 9,712 fans per game — 225 more than the team that will soon call Las Vegas home.

Biggest and Smallest Crowds

After a sellout crowd for the A’s first home game at Sutter Health Park, attendance fluctuated throughout the season.

The A’s drew 12,522 fans for their home opener against the Chicago Cubs, but attendance dropped for the next two games in the series — 10,095 on April 1 and 9,342 on April 2.

Attendance peaked when the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants came to town. The Yankees’ visit over Mother’s Day weekend and the Giants’ series during Independence Day weekend each drew more than 12,000 fans per game.

Crowds didn’t reach 12,000 again for the rest of the season.

The lowest home attendance came on Aug. 11, when 7,731 fans watched the A’s take on the Tampa Bay Rays.

Business Impact

West Sacramento businesses told ABC10 they noticed the impact of the A’s first season, but with mixed results.

Burgers and Brew adjusted hours early in the season in anticipation of larger weekday crowds, but eventually went back to regular hours. Manager Abigail Gonzales noted that weekends and days with multiple sporting events brought in significant crowds.

Teriyaki Madness, across the street from Burgers and Brew, said it saw more traffic tied to game days.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s the Kings or the River Cats — now with the A’s, our sales have definitely been blooming,” said Jay Livelo, an employee at Teriyaki Madness.

Looking Ahead to 2026

During their second season at Sutter Health Park, the A’s will wear jerseys featuring “Sacramento.” The team plans to wear the jerseys for every Saturday home game in 2026 as part of “Sacramento Saturdays.”

The A’s home opener for their second season in West Sacramento is April 3 against the Houston Astros.

Other visiting teams in 2026 will include the Giants, Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox.
