Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby caught a glance of Aaron Judge’s New York Yankees heroics on the Jumbotron as the MLB superstar helped save the franchise from being swept by the Toronto Blue Jays in the playoffs.

The Yankees headed into Tuesday night’s game 2-0 down to the Blue Jays in the ALDS after losing 10-1 and 13-7 on the road before Game 3 at Yankee Stadium. Judge, a two-time American League MVP, was the Yankees’ hero on the night as the famed MLB team won 9-6 to force a Game 4 in the Big Apple.

Judge delivered a dramatic three-run home run off a 99.7 mph fastball from Louis Varland, the ball striking the left-field foul pole to tie the game at 6–6. It completely shifted momentum, helping fuel New York’s eventual comeback win over the Blue Jays.

The Yankees have a lot of support countrywide as they take on the Canadian franchise, the Blue Jays, and Judge’s home run was shown on the Jumbotron during the Penguins’ 3-0 win over the New York Rangers inside Madison Square Garden.

Penguins star Crosby detailed the moment he was caught peeking at the screen as Judge changed the trajectory of Tuesday night’s MLB playoff series.

“Yeah, I mean it’s pretty hard not to,” Cole Harbour native Crosby said. “You know, obviously, it’s pretty much a whole country cheering for them. So, you know, always always cool to see them in the playoffs.

“And yeah, I heard that I heard the crowd, and then I heard the Jumbotron. I figured something was coming from that game. I think it was at 6-6, you know, that’s I don’t know what it is now, but I’ll definitely be following.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone has had his position come into question this season, but the 52-year-old is savoring the Game 3 moment as his team lives to fight at least another game.

“Awesome. Just continue to keep your nose down and compete when it’s not looking great and just a lot of really good quality at bats to work our way back into it,” Boone said on his team’s win.

“Thought some important plays in the field and the bullpen just piecing it together so well. I think without really overtaxing anyone too, which obviously is big, going into another game tomorrow. I did because it held right away.

“And so I’m, you know, I have such a good angle from where I sit on fair foul down the left field line.

“So I was kind of giving it some body language, but I felt like it was going to hold. The ball was carried to the left, and that at bat, when I looked up, the flag was dead.

“So probably keeping it from maybe blowing a foul or even deeper, but just a really good swing to keep himself tight to that ball to be able to not spin off and just hook it and keep it fair.”
