First pitch

It’s a pivotal Game 4 here in Detroit, as the Tigers face the Mariners. Comerica Park is still wearing orange and waving around those orange towels. Casey Mize is on the mound to start for the Tigers as first pitch is at 3:08 p.m. with Mize throwing as fastball at leadoff hitter Randy Arozarena for a strike.

Ceremonial first pitch

Another ceremonial first pitch here at Comerica Park as Lou Whitaker, member of the 1984 World Series Champion Tigers, comes out for the event. Good thing he didn’t have to wait three hours to throw it like Miguel Cabrera had to yesterday, right?

Game 4 Matchups

It’s win-or-go-home for the Tigers now, as the Tigers are on the brink of elimination in Game 4 of their American League Divisional Series against the Mariners.

After taking a 1-0 lead back in Seattle, Detroit has suffered back-to-back losses, including Tuesday night’s 8-4 defeat in Game 3 following a nearly three-hour rain delay. The game was full of multiple fielding errors and empty at-bats from an offense that still hasn’t produced many runs outside of the AL wild-card Game 3 win, which didn’t give the Comerica Park fans a lot to cheer as they’re still trying to see the first Tigers home win in more than a month.

Now the Tigers look to starter Casey Mize to keep their postseason dreams alive, as he’ll pitch with a full week of rest after going just three innings in their Game 2 loss against the Guardians last round. The Mariners’ pitching has frustrated the Tigers batting order this series and they hope Game 4 starter Bryce Miller can keep that going.
