Some things are just meant to be.

Before Tuesday’s Game 3 with the Mariners and Tigers was even in a rain delay, KOMO Videographer Doug Pigsley and I noticed a fan wearing a unique shirt in the stands. Sort of just taking in the ballpark as if he knew something special was coming.

Boy, did it ever.

Because the shirt said “Dump 61 here.”

And then Cal Raleigh did just that.

Yes, out of 41,525 fans at Comerica Park on Tuesday night, somehow, some way, Cal’s 61st home run was hit, or dumped, right to Turner.

The most unlikely of scenarios, and it came true.

“I’m still in shock,” Turner told the local reporters here in Detroit covering the Mariners.

Cal met Turner after the game and gave him a signed bat, because that’s the first-class person that Raleigh is.

Jameson says he was born in Longview, but has lived in Las Vegas the last 25 years.

All the while, always loving his Mariners. Now he got to meet their folk hero — who magically hit a home run ball right in front of him.

Of course, Turner was happy to show us what was under the 61 shirt — one that said “Dump 62 here.”

He’ll be back in the crowd for Game 4, and with the magic surrounding this Mariners team? Don’t count out anything.
