The stakes are incredibly high for Game 4 of the ALDS between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the attendance numbers at Comerica Park.

Detroit jumped out to a 1-0 series lead over Seattle thanks to an RBI single from Zach McKinstry in the top of the 11th inning. The Mariners refused to let that loss define their season though. They bounced back with a 3-2 win in Game 2 and then jumped all over the Tigers in Game 3, scoring eight runs on Tuesday night.

Although the Tigers have their backs against the wall this Wednesday afternoon, there are plenty of empty seats at Comerica Park.

Plenty of people pointed out the empty seats during FS1’s broadcast of the Mariners-Tigers game.

Does the MLB have a scheduling problem?

The reality is not every single person can take off from work to attend a sporting event on a Wednesday afternoon. That’s why the stadium isn’t packed for this elimination game.

“Nobody’s taking a PTO day to watch this team strikeout 15 times and leave 10+ on base,” a Tigers fan said.

“MLB makes it a point of emphasis to schedule playoff games as inconveniently as possible,” a fan pointed out.

“Stop playing baseball playoff games at 2pm on a weekday,” another fan wrote.

It’s also a Wednesday afternoon and people do work for a living,” a social media user added.

Fortunately for those in attendance this Wednesday, they’re witnessing an instant classic.

The Mariners had a 3-0 lead over the Tigers heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Dillon Dingler, Jahmai Jones and Javier Baez have all driven in runs to even up the score.

Game 4 between the Mariners and Tigers is being televised on FS1.
