GREENVILLE — Blanking Reynolds 12-0 in a non-conference road trip Monday, the A-C Valley/Union Falcon Knights baseball team looked to finish the regular season with some momentum going into the playoffs.

Now at 10-7, the Falcon Knights had two games remaining going into Wednesday’s makeup at home against Keystone. They added a home date with Redbank Valley on Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

Then it’s off to the District 9 Class 3A playoffs as one of four teams in the bracket with St. Marys, Karns City and Brookville. It’s likely the Falcon Knights land a No. 3 seed and a semifinal matchup with either St. Marys or Karns City.

Pairings were scheduled to be announced Thursday or Friday.

In Monday’s win, Falcon Knights right-hander Chase Ruth tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks in a five-inning win that saw Ruth need just 65 pitches with 48 going for strikes.

The Falcon Knights had eight hits and worked four Reynolds pitchers for seven walks with Sebastian Link and Carter McGarvey both finishing with two hits with Link doubling.

The Falcon Knights led 2-0 going into the top of the fourth before scoring eight runs to put the game away. They added two runs in the fifth.

At Kane, the Falcon Knights were limited to three hits by three Wolves pitchers, including starter Brock Wensel who gave up all three hits and struck out 10 against no walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Sebastian Link and Ryan Armagost threw for the Falcon Knights with Link talking the loss after giving up eight runs and three runs, all earned, with three walks and eight strikeouts. Ryan Armagost gave up two runs in one inning of relief.

Kane led 1-0 before scoring two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

At Knox, Chase Ruth tossed a four-hitter with four strikeouts and three walks in an 88-pitch complete game against the Panthers.

All four Falcon Knights runs came in the fourth inning when they scored with the help of five walks and no hits.

In fact, the Falcon Knights had just two hits with Colbin Elliott and Connor Langdon hitting singles.
