NEW YORK – In this Subway Series finale, the Yankees will send their best against the Mets and Juan Soto.

In fact, Max Fried – with a 6-0 record and MLB-leading 1.11 ERA through nine starts – wouldn’t be in pinstripes if Soto had stayed in the Bronx.

Fried’s $218 million, eight-year free agent deal came on the heels of Soto’s record signing with the Mets, and the veteran lefty is seeking to give the Yanks a win Sunday night in this initial Subway Series of 2025.

Previously with the Atlanta Braves, Fried has faced Soto plenty of times and has never surrendered a homer to the lefty slugger.

However, Soto is a .333 hitter (9-for-27) against Fried with a double, five walks and nine strikeouts.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium, where the 2024 WNBA champion New York Liberty will be honored before the game, with Breanna Stewart scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Yankees’ broadcaster Dave Sims on the sidelines

A case of laryngitis has sidelined Yankees’ radio voice Dave Sims for the Bronx Subway Series finale.

Posting to his Instagram account Sunday, Sims said: “Anyone listening to Saturday’s Subway Series game two on WFAN heard my voice on its way out…first time laryngitis sent me to the IL in my 23 years calling baseball.”

Emmanuel Berbari is filling in on the play-by-play tonight, alongside Suzyn Waldman in the WFAN booth.

Also, new New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson took in batting practice with his family on the field today, wearing a No. 3 Yankees home jersey.

A player-guest at a couple of past Yankee spring trainings, Wilson met with several of his old Yankees teammates, including Aaron Judge, who gifted Wilson’s children with batting gloves worn by the captain.
