Tyler Stephenson discusses Reds’ extra-innings loss to Pirates

Updated: After a delay of 1:22, the originally scheduled 12:40 p.m. game Sept. 25 between the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates commenced at 2:02 p.m. at Great American Ball Park. The game is the series finale, and the final regular-season home game of the year for the Reds.
For the 2025 regular season, the Reds have so far endured a combined 18 hours and 54 minutes worth of rain delays across all games, home and away. That’s likely to be the final tally as their final series will be played at the Milwaukee Brewers’ American Family Field, which has a retractable roof.
Previous: The start of the series finale between the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park is expected to start at 2 p.m. after a weather delay of more than an hour, the Reds say.
The tarp has been on the infield for much of the morning as a steady rain fell through the late-morning hours.
The game is critical in the race for the National League’s final playoff berth, with the Reds trailing the Mets by one game for that spot with four to play. The Arizona Diamondbacks are tied with the Reds in the race.
The Reds hold the tiebreakers against both teams, assuring a berth if they finish in either possible two-way tie or a three-way tie.
The Reds controlled their own playoff destiny until losing the first two games of the Pirates series, including an 11-inning loss on Sept. 24.
They finish the season with three games in Milwaukee, Sept. 26-28.
