Red Oak’s softball team took a Class B fast-pitch state runner-up finish with a 4-2 loss to Leedey in the championship game on Saturday at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. 

Allie Tovar scored on a passed ball in the first inning to tie it at 1, and Jaylee Branscum hit a home run over the center-field wall in the fifth for the final score.

Red Oak (26-11-1, ranked third) had runners on first and third base in the bottom of the seventh, but was unable to score.

Red Oak totaled six hits and two walks. Tovar had a hit and a walk. Presley McClary had a hit and was hit by pitch. Eelyn Martin pitched 6.2 innings, allowing seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

This is Red Oak’s second fast-pitch state runner-up finish in three years.
