The Milwaukee Brewers used a strong pitching performance to win Game 5 of the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs, and they trolled their Central Division rivals in their team photo after the series ended.

The Brewers, baseball’s best team during the regular season, dropped two straight games at Wrigley Field to force the fifth game, but they triumphed 3-1 with a trio of solo home runs Saturday, ending the Cubs’ season and advancing to the National League Championship Series for the first time since 2018.

The Brewers will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS beginning Monday in Milwaukee, but before players departed American Family Field on Saturday night, they made sure to rub it in the Cubs’ faces that they had bested their rivals.

In a team photo taken at the conclusion of the game, Cubs fans will note the presence of a certain flag in the back of the image:

Cubs fans are of course familiar with the “W” flag, a white banner with a blue letter “W” that flies over the Wrigley Field scoreboard after the Cubs win games. The flag has become extremely popular with Cubs fans, who typically bring it to games both at Wrigley and in visiting ballparks and display it after their team triumphs.

On the flip side, the Cubs will fly a blue flag with a white “L” on it from the scoreboard when they lose, and although the Brewers players didn’t quite get the color scheme right, the “L” flag in the background was certainly a dig at their foes in the series.

Naturally, the flag display was greeted differently by fans of the two teams.

Salty Cubs fans all over my timeline this morning about the Brewers flying the L flag last night. Lmao you know it’s one of the biggest rivalry’s in baseball right? You know who the Cubs manager is right? Chill, it’s hilarious. Go shout “GB sucks” into a brick wall for an hour

Putting photos out there of your team holding up an L flag when you still have two series’ to go win is an interesting choice.

Not to mention it’s the wrong color https://t.co/7SjumGEn1S

Now, Cubs fans will be left to question what the team will do to get back at the Brewers, who have now won four of the last five division titles and now own bragging rights following the first-ever playoff meeting between the clubs.
