The San Diego Padres sent eight players to the Arizona Fall League for extended work after the 2025 season. Five pitchers and three position players were added to the roster of the Peoria Javelinas before the season began.

Catcher Ethan Salas, originally listed as part of the roster, was removed and replaced by catcher/first baseman Lamar King Jr. Pitcher Isaiah Lowe was also removed and replaced by RHP Kannon Kemp. The Padres players join players from the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Miami Marlins and Seattle Mariners to make up the roster for the Javelinas.

The Javelinas play their home games at the Peoria Sports Complex, home for the Padres and the Mariners as their Arizona facility. The season lasts six weeks, ending Nov. 12.

The Padres prospects playing in the AFL, besides King Jr. and Kemp, are infielder Ryan Jackson and outfielder Braedon Karpathios as well as RHP Tucker Musgrove, RHP Maikel Miralles, RHP Johan Moreno and RHP Carson Montgomery.

The Javelinas played the Scottsdale Scorpions as the only teams playing on Opening Day, Oct. 6. The Javelinas won 4-3 with catcher King Jr going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and walk as well as DH Karpathios going 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. There were only four hits by the Javelinas in their win, but they worked seven walks.

Righty Montgomery started and pitched three innings, allowing five hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. He got the win for the Javelinas. Righty Musgrove pitched the fifth inning and struck out two, while allowing no hits or walks. Righty Moreno pitched the seventh with a walk and a strikeout with no hits

After an off day, the Javelinas played the Mesa Solar Sox and won 8-6 in 10 innings. No Padres prospects played in the game.

On Oct. 9, the Javelinas played the Surprise Saguaros and lost 7-2 with right hander Miralles allowing four runs and four hits over four innings pitched. He had a walk and three strikeouts during the fifth through eighth innings. Righty Kemp pitched the 6th inning and allowed a hit with a walk and two strikeouts.

Shortstop Jackson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. He hit a double and was caught stealing. LF Karpathios was 1-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout. Catcher King Jr. was 1-for-4 with a strikeout and he made an error with catcher interference. Kemp also made a throwing error on a pickoff attempt.

On Oct. 10, the Javelinas won 15-1 versus the Salt River Rafters with RF Karpathios going 2-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBI, two walks and a strikeout. He hit a double with three total bases. Second baseman Jackson was 0-for-1 with a run scored, two RBI and three walks. No Padres pitched in the game.

The Oct. 11 game against the Mesa Solar Sox was delayed for weather. Arizona was hit hard over the weekend with the leftover rain from the storm passing through the Phoenix area.

C Lamar King Jr has a .143/.222/.143 line with a .365 OPS in 7 AB.

OF Braedon Karpathios has a .444/.643/.556 line with a 1.199 OPS in 9 AB.

The Javelinas sit in second place in the AFL, 0.5 games behind Surprise.
