TORONTO — The Mariners have done it again, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 10-3 in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS).
The Mariners secured a 2-0 lead in the ALCS Monday and look to their next matchup on Wednesday with first pitch at 5:08 p.m. at T-Mobile Park
In a seven game series, the Mariners have to win four to advance to the World Series, which would be a first for the team.
The Mariners came out swinging Monday, quickly gaining a 3-0 lead over the Blue Jays after Julio Rodríguez made a three-run home run in the first inning of Game 2 .
The Blue Jays eventually tied it up 3-3, but then in a stunning play, Jorge Polanco hit a three run home run during the fifth inning to give the Mariners a 6-3 lead.
Polanco has been a recurring star in the Mariners postseason.
J.P. Crawford advanced the Mariners lead in the sixth inning 7-3 over the Blue Jays.
In the top of the seventh inning, Josh Naylor sent the M’s over the top hitting a two run home run for 9-3 against the Blue Jays.
The Mariners posted on social media after that homer Naylor is the first Canadian-born player to home in the postseason as a visiting player in Canada.
“Naylor is the fourth Canadian-born player to homer in Canada during the playoffs, joining Blue Jays players Russell Martin, Michael Saunders & Vladimir Guerrero Jr.,” the M’s posted on X.
The Mariners continued to dominate against the Blue Jays in Game 2, finishing with a 10-3 lead.
