PALMYRA, Mo. — Palmyra freshman pitcher Zola Meyers took command in the circle in Monday’s regular season finale against Hannibal.

Meyers pitched a complete game shutout, only allowing five hits and two walks to push Palmyra to a 8-0 win over Hannibal.

Meyers helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base.

The game was a scoreless tie as Meyers and Lady Pirates starting pitcher Kynlee Ross traded zeroes for the first three innings until the Lady Panthers capitalized on a pair of Hannibal errors to score two runs.

Palmyra put the game away with a six-run sixth inning.

Lady Panthers catcher Claire Swisher went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, while center fielder Avery Wisehart went 1-for-2 with a walk, double, stolen base and two runs.

Palmyra third baseman Marney Plunkett went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run, while shortstop Jerzey Ramey went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Ross went 5.2 innings with three strikeouts, while allowing eight hits, four walks and two earned runs in a losing effort. Addison Friday pitched a third of an inning in relief.

Friday, second baseman Lexi Anders, catcher Stevie Wilson, first baseman Bella Campbell and center fielder Avril Collier each had a hit for Hannibal.

Palmyra held an ‘Orange Out’ night to benefit J.T. Thomas, who is recovering from injuries sustained in a football game last month. Thomas picked the walk up songs for each of the Palmyra batters in Monday’s game.
