October 14, 1908 – The Chicago Cubs were up 2-0 in Game Five of the 1908 World Series on Oct. 14, 1908, and the Detroit Tigers were looking to score.
With two outs and runners on second and third, Wahoo Native Sam Crawford stepped up to the plate. He struck out and the Cubs won the game and the World Series.
Crawford was a future Hall of Famer and one of the best hitters in baseball.
