The Rockwood Tigers traveled up the Rockwood Mountain on Friday night to help the Cumberland County Jets celebrate their 2025 Homecoming. The Tigers enter this non-District game with an overall 4-3 record and 4-2 District mark and are currently in 3rd place in the playoff picture. The Jets come in with a 2-5 record. The Jets are currently non-affiliated. The Jets tonight would face an offensive and defensive front the likes of which they have not faced this season even from their crosstown rivals, the Stone Panthers. The Tigers put forward one of the best fronts in the District, anchored by Skyler Layne, Collin Abston, Jonathan Dietz, Keegen Koch, Tallon Tovar Collin Hickey and Kyle Ladd. The offense will again feature Coach Webb’s patented pound it out clock killing ground game with Aiden Amonett directing the field action with Jayden Davidson, Landon Clark, Adrian Cunningham and Darrien Hensley supplying the muscle.

The Tigers would chose to go on offense to open the contest, taking the opening KO and starting on their own 41. On the second play of the game, Amonett went to the air with a 56 yard toss and run to the speedy Hensley and with less than 50 seconds gone the Tigers were up 7-0, they would never trail. The Jets first possession was limited to a single first down and 20 yards before the defense forced a punt from the Jet 40. The Tigers second possession would take 11 plays and cover 60 yards and include two TDs the first of which was a 27 yard run to the end zone by Davidson which was called back due to a holding call. The second TD, which counted, was on a 14 yard run by Adrian Darby. At the 3:23 mark of the first, the Tigers were up 14-0. On the next Jet possession the Tiger defense got into the picture as Hensley intercepted a pass and took it to the 10 yard line. It then took Darby two carries to find the end zone for the third time in the quarter and the Tigers moved to a 21-0 lead as the 1st Quarter ended. The next Jet drive was their longest of the game as they moved from their own 25 to the Tiger 13. At that point the defense stepped up as Jeffery Gray intercepted and turned it into a pick six. The PAT was good and with 7:48 to play in the half the game had turned into a mirror image of last week’s Oakdale game with the Tigers up 28-0 approaching halftime. The only highlight in the remainder of the half was an interception by the Big Man Skyler Layne who moved from the Tiger 26 to the Jet 42 before being downed. Later in the quarter Jeffery Gray added a second interception to his resume but this time he was unable to find the end zone and the half ended 28-0 Tigers.

The only scoring in the 2nd half was by the Tigers. On their first possession of the 3rd the Tigers turned a 53 yard 5 play drive into the last TD of the evening with Darby going in from the 10 for the points and at the 8:00 minute mark of the 3rd that TD turned the lights out on the Jets and started the clock running. The remaining 20 minutes of play would see multiplay drives by both teams but no real threats from either. The only notable occurrence was another Tiger interception, this time by Jayden Davidson. The final for the evening remained 35-0 as the Tigers recorded their 5th win on the season with their record now 5-3.

The Tigers take next week off before returning home to face Kingston on the 24 followed by their last regular season game on the 30th against Greenback, that game is also at home.
