The playoffs are set to continue as we head back to the American League. The Championship series heads to Seattle for the first time in over two decades as the Seattle Mariners are set to play host to the Toronto Blue Jays in a critical Game 3. Our rivals to the north are making some serious noise.
Toronto limps into today’s contest after dropping both of their home games to start the series. That puts the American League’s #1 seed in a precarious position with three games now in Seattle. There’s no guarantee the Blue Jays will get one more game in front of their home fans but they’ll need at least two of the next three to stay alive. Tonight’s game in particular is as close to a must-win as it can be considering the nearly non-existent history of 0-3 comebacks in the LCS. They’ll have former Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber on the mound today, hoping he can rediscover his former self one last time. Otherwise the Blue Jays will be just one day away from possibly seeing their season come to an end.
Seattle meanwhile is just two wins away from their first ever World Series appearance, and in that regard we all root for a team to reach new heights for the first time. It’s been a roller coaster of a season for the Mariners but they’re seemingly on the cusp of team history with a 2-0 series advantage and three home games to finish it off. They’ll try to step on Toronto’s throat today with a victory, and the M’s will hope one of their most prized young arms, former 1st-rounder George Kirby, can get them just one step away from the final round. Exciting time to be a Mariners fan!
First pitch is at 5:08 PCT everyone. Until this, have an excellent hump day everyone!
Seems like the Brew Crew got a good one on their hands:
Possible starter at the hot corner? Or mere positional depth?
