After setting an MLB record for fielding percentage, the Texas Rangers were recognized Wednesday with five finalists for AL Gold Glove Awards.
Second baseman Marcus Semien and right fielder Adolis GarcÃa are each seeking their second Gold Gloves. Shortstop Corey Seager, left fielder Wyatt Langford and pitcher Jacob deGrom are all seeking their first.
DeGrom, also a finalist for Comeback Player of the Year, handled 31 total chances at pitcher without an error this year. A college shortstop, deGrom led all AL pitchers in putouts and was tied for second in total chances accepted without an error at the position. DeGrom ranked third among AL pitchers in Defensive Runs Saved, according to Fangraphs, behind Max Fried and Luis Severino, the two out other finalists.
Only one pitcher – Kenny Rogers – has ever won a Gold Glove at the position in Rangers history. Rogers won four in a six-season span from 2000-05.

The other Rangers finalists all ranked in the top 3 in Defensive Runs Saved at their respective positions. GarcÃa led all right fielders with 16 DRS, the third highest total for any player in the AL, regardless of position. Semien and Seager were each second at their respective positions to fellow finalists Andres Gimenez of Toronto (second base) and Taylor Walls of Tampa Bay (shortstop). Langford, with 12 DRS, was also second in left field to Cleveland’s Steven Kwan. Kwan, however, led all players in the majors with 22.
The winners will be announced on Nov. 2. The Rangers did not have a Gold Glove winner in 2024, but produced three winners in 2023.
The Rangers ranked second among AL teams in finalists. Toronto, currently playing Seattle in the AL Championship Series, had six.
