The finalists for the 2025 Gold Glove Awards were named today, and five Texas Rangers — Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Jacob deGrom, Adolis Garcia, and Wyatt Langford — were named finalists at their position.
deGrom, Luis Severino and Max Fried are the finalists for the Gold Glove Award for American League pitchers. deGrom was tied for fifth in the American League in Defensive Runs Saved (DRS), at +4. Fried was first, at +10, and Severino was second, at +6.
Semien, Luis Rengifo and Andres Gimenez are the finalists for American League second basemen. Semien has won the award once previously, in 2021. Interestingly, Gimenez’s teammate, Ernie Clement, is first in DRS for second basemen, at +10, despite playing just 423 innings at the position.
Seager, Bobby Witt Jr., and Taylor Walls are the A.L. finalists at shortstop. Seager’s +16 DRS is second in the A.L., while his +4 FRV is tied for fifth. Witt is first in FRV at +20, but tied for 8th in DRS at +3. Walls is first in DRS, at +17, but is at just +1 FRV.
Langford, Steven Kwan, and Tyler Soderstrom are the finalists for left field in the American League. Langford was second in both DRS (+12) and FRV (+5), behind Kwan (+22 DRS and +12 FRV) in both categories. Soderstrom was fourth in DRS (+10) and tied for fourth in FRV (+4). Combining all outfield positions, Kwan is first in DRS (+22), Langford is tied for fourth (+16), and Soderstrom is tied for 10th (+10), while in FRV, Kwan is second (+12), Langford is tied for 6th (+9), and Soderstrom is at +3.
