SAN DIEGO – Arkansas Travelers alum and current Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh made history after hitting his 15th home run of the season against the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

According to a post on social media by the Mariners PR account, Raleigh is one of only six players in the team’s history to hit 15 or more home runs in 44-or-fewer games. Other players on the list include Nelson Cruz, Edgar Martinez, Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. and Jay Buhner.

In addition to joining elite company in team history, Raleigh also joins Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber as the only players in the league to hit 15 or more home runs so far this season.

At the end of the 2024 season, MLB revealed that Raleigh was named the American League Platinum Glove winner as the best overall fielder in the league. He also became the first Mariners catcher to win the Gold Glove, and the first Mariners player to win the Platinum Glove since its inception.

Prior to Opening Day, the Mariners announced that Raleigh signed a six-year $105 million contract extension through 2030, with a player option for the 2031 season.

Before being called up by the Mariners in 2021, Raleigh played with the Travs for 39 games in 2019, hitting seven home runs, 16 RBI and 33 hits in 145 at-bats.
