[How to watch Blue Jays-Mariners | ALCS Game 3 live blog]
In their 49 seasons of existence, the Seattle Mariners have never won the AL pennant. And the franchise has rarely come close, reaching the ALCS just three times.

But two games into the 2025 ALCS, Seattle is already the deepest it has ever been in the postseason. The Mariners have won two games in the ALCS twice but have lost the series both times.
There’s hope that this season will be different because the Mariners haven’t just won two games — they’ve won the first two games in the series. That gives them a massive advantage over the Toronto Blue Jays with the ALCS heading back to Seattle for Game 3.

With another victory, the 2025 Mariners will have officially gone further in the playoffs than any other team in franchise history. But picking up that victory Wednesday won’t be easy. Toronto will send veteran Shane Bieber to the mound looking to salvage the series. The Mariners will counter with George Kirby.

Mariners fans have a long memory: George Springer, who hasn’t played for the Houston Astros in five years, is still viciously booed by Seattle every time he gets up to the plate. This last round led to a series of “cheater” chants from the still-bitter Mariners crowd, but Springer silences them with a single that sends Andrés Giménez to third.

After letting in another home run and letting Anthony Santander walk, George Kirby’s night is done in the fifth inning. Kirby heads to the dugout after allowing eight hits and seven runs (including three homers) and notching four strikeouts in 74 pitches.
Carlos Vargas, a 26-year-old righty reliever, is stepping up to the mound.

George Kirby gets two strikeouts back-to-back, getting the fourth inning off to a better start than the third.

Seattle’s favorite fish, who stormed to an unlikely win in ALDS Game 5 after a 0-165 record, is victorious again in Wednesday’s Salmon Run. Last time, Humpy’s win reignited the crowd just before the Mariners picked up the walk-off win over the Tigers in the 15th inning.
A vibe shift for Seattle would be a boost here, too, as the Mariners are down 5-2 after a big third inning for the Blue Jays. But it hasn’t signaled much so far, as Toronto handles Seattle easily in the bottom of the third inning.
Who knows, though: A fish-adjacent comeback might be on its way.

George Kirby throws a low pitch that hits Cal Raleigh’s glove at a strange angle and bounces up, giving Nathan Lukes a chance to run home from third.
Then Daulton Varsho’s hit to right-center bounces off the wall for a double, sending both Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk home for a 5-2 lead.

After a slow start, the Blue Jays are finding their offensive footing. After Nathan Lukes gets on base with a single, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. knocks a double to left field. Lukes ends up on third, with Guerrero on second and Anthony Santander up to the plate.
With only one out, it’s a delicate situation for Mariners starter George Kirby.

As Toronto gets hot, Victor Robles stifles a long foul ball with a stellar catch against the right-field wall.
With only one out, it’s still plenty of time for the Blue Jays to pull ahead.

Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement kicks off the third inning with a double down the line. Clement’s double falls just fair, and he takes his place on second base after a slow offensive start for Toronto.

For the second straight game, Julio Rodriguez pulls the Mariners to an early lead with a first-inning homer. Last time, it was a three-run bomb in the first inning of Seattle’s dominant 10-3 Game 2 win. Now, it’s a two-run homer to get the Mariners up 2-0 to kick off the game.
But this time, it’s in front of his home crowd — and Seattle is getting rowdy.
