Tennessee baseball is the No. 8 seed in the SEC tournament after losing its fifth straight series to close the regular season.

The Vols (41-15, 16-14) will face the winner between No. 16 seed Missouri (16-38, 3-27) and No. 9 seed Alabama (40-14, 16-13) in the second round on May 21 (10:30 a.m. ET, SEC Network) at Hoover Met in Hoover, Alabama. UT is the reigning SEC tournament champion after winning the title in 2024.

The SEC begins the new single-elimination tournament format this year with the increase to 16 teams. The bottom eight seeds open the tournament May 20. The winners advance to play seed Nos. 5-8 on May 21. The top four seeds open on May 22 against the teams that advanced from the opening two days.

Tennessee plays Alabama or Missouri in its first game in the SEC Tournament. Alabama and Missouri play in the first round on May 20 (10:30 a.m., SEC Network).

The Vols won the series against Alabama after losing the opener 6-5 on March 20. Tennessee won the second game 10-7 and claimed the rubber match 9-2.

Tennessee did not play Missouri in the regular season.

Tennessee won the SEC Tournament in 2022, its first conference tournament title since 1995. UT did not trail in the SEC Tournament, winning four games as the No. 1 seed.

It claimed SEC Tournament championship again in 2024, beating LSU 4-3 to rebound from an opening loss to Vanderbilt.

The Vols also played for the 2021 tournament title, but lost 7-2 to Arkansas in the championship. They lost their first game in 2019 to Auburn in their first appearance since 2016. UT was bounced in its opener against Texas A&M in 2023.
