HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Hattiesburg High School is inviting the community to its first-ever Coed Monster Mash.
The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Admission: $2 per person.
The school’s baseball and softball teams partnered to create the safe and fun evening for children and families, offering a twist on the traditional trunk-or-treat.
“It’s very important, because the children, if they understand that you care about them, they will go as hard as they need to go for you,” said HHS softball head coach Megan Keyes.
“We want to make sure that from our programs, the children from elementary on up know that we love them and want them to participate in our programs.”
Attendees will find candy, games, face painting and other activities hosted by various clubs and sports teams across the school.
The night also will feature a coed softball game, with players dressed in Halloween costumes to entertain kids and families.
Safety will be a main priority.
“With everything that’s been going on, all the tragedies, we want them to know that this is going to be a safe event for their children,” said Keyes. “We’re going to have, and we want them to have, a great time.”
The Coed Monster Mash is expected to offer a fun-filled evening while helping younger students see that Hattiesburg High School cares about them.
“Coach Keyes approached us about having a coed softball game and we thought it was perfect to get our kids involved with her kids, a little fundraiser, and to allow the community to see how important family is to the baseball program,” said HHS baseball associate head coach David Mitchell.
