Bryan Armetta offers up a preview, prediction and pick for Thursday’s NLCS Game 3 between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The NLCS heads West, with Game 3 set for tonight at Dodger Stadium. For the defending champs, this is an opportunity to move one step closer towards their second consecutive NL pennant. Los Angeles has won seven of its eight games this postseason.

On the other side, this is a must-win spot for Milwaukee. Facing a 2-0 deficit against a superteam is no easy task. Still, the Brewers did win a Major League-best 97 games during the regular season. Can they show up when it matters most against LA? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Thursday’s matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Los Angeles is favored (-199) over Milwaukee, with the over/under set at 7.5 runs. Let’s break down which side has the edge on DraftKings Sportsbook entering tonight’s contest.

Brewers vs. Dodgers prediction, preview

For some clubs, a bullpen day is something to be feared. That’s not the case for the Brewers; their relievers have the sixth-lowest ERA in baseball (3.63). Granted, this won’t be your typical BP usage. Starters Jose Quintana and Jacob Misiorowski could both play a significant role.

Pat Murphy said the Game 3 pitching plans are “under construction.” Jacob Misiorowski and José Quintana are length options.

He added they’ve pitched well in the first two games holding the Dodgers to seven runs and haven’t overexposed any relievers.

The latter of the pair is intriguing, mainly due to his triple-digit fastball. Who knows how fast the rookie can throw if he’s emptying the tank for an inning or two? In addition, Misiorowski offers a nice stylistic contrast to Quintana, a soft-tossing veteran. Although the Dodgers won the first two games of this series, they scored seven total runs. Several big bats for Los Angeles have looked slightly off this postseason. That includes Shohei Ohtani (.147 batting average) and Freddie Freeman (.242).

To counter Milwaukee, LA will turn to Tyler Glasnow on the mound. It’s been another injury-shortened campaign for the talented right-hander. Through 90.1 innings of work, he’s recorded a 3.19 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 ratio. The former All-Star has excelled in this matchup; over two meetings with the Brewers this season, Glasnow has allowed one total run (0.82 ERA).

Hitting has been an issue for Milwaukee, going back to its NLDS series vs. the Cubs. Over seven postseason games, the Brew Crew has notched a total of 15 runs. In addition, nearly half of those runs were scored in Game 1 against Chicago. That’s not going to cut it against most teams, let alone the defending champs. Outside of Jake Bauers and Jackson Chourio, none of the team’s hitters are batting over .227 in the playoffs.

Brewers vs. Dodgers pick, best bet

In this battle for National League supremacy, don’t expect a ton of scoring. Glasnow is an ace when he steps on the mound, and he’s been stellar this postseason. As for Milwaukee, manager Pat Murphy will be aggressive in mixing and matching his pitchers. Los Angeles’ sky-high -199 price makes it difficult to support them on the moneyline. Instead, back the under during Thursday’s Game 3 showdown.

Best Bet: Brewers vs. Dodgers under 7.5 total runs (-102)
