After just missing the playoffs, Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen put his assessment of the season into words.

USA TODAY Sports released 2025 payroll numbers for each team based on present-day value as calculated by the MLB Labor Relations Department and the DBacks, who finished fourth in the National League West with an 80-82 record, had the 11th-highest payroll in baseball, at more than $195 million.
The New York Mets had the highest payroll in MLB on opening day, followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
The Tampa Bay Rays, Athletics and Miami Marlins had the lowest.

Which Diamondbacks players made the most in 2025 season?
Pitcher Corbin Burnes had the highest salary among Diamondbacks players in 2025, at $30.8 million.
Pitcher Jordan Montgomery, who was traded at the MLB trade deadline, was second, at $22.5 million, with pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez third at $20 million.
Second baseman Ketel Marte ($19,.6 million) and third baseman Eugenio Suarez ($15 million), who was also traded during the season, rounded out the Top 5.
Other notable Arizona Diamondbacks player salaries in 2025
Outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. made $14 million in salary last season, while pitcher Zac Gallen made $13.5 million.
Corbin Carroll’s salary was $5.6 million, while Geraldo Perdomo made $2.6 million.
Pitcher Ryne Nelson made $825,000, while Brandon Pfaadt’s salary was $800,000.
