[How to watch Brewers vs. Dodgers | NLCS Game 3 live blog]
The Los Angeles Dodgers are peaking at the right time. After an injury-riddled regular season, the Dodgers are fully operational in the playoffs and performing like a team intent on becoming the first back-to-back champions since the New York Yankees in 2000.

Thanks to excellent pitching, the Dodgers jumped to a 2-0 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. Los Angeles picked up both wins on the road and returns to Dodger Stadium for some home-field advantage on Thursday in Game 3.

That puts the Brewers in a tough spot. After winning an MLB-leading 97 games in the regular season, the Brewers’ offense has looked punchless against the Dodgers. Getting the bats to awaken will be key to the Brewers making it a competitive series, but that won’t be an easy task against Dodgers Game 3 starter Tyler Glasnow.
Despite being limited by injuries in the regular season, Glasnow has a 0.00 ERA over 7 2/3 playoff innings for the Dodgers. Another strong start from a Dodgers hurler would give Los Angeles a near-insurmountable lead in the series.

The Brewers manager visited Misiorowski after the Freeman walk and had Uribe warmed up, but opted to stick with a rookie who was clearly flagging against Edman instead of bringing in his best reliever of the regular season. It didn’t work out.

Freddie Freeman worked a walk, then Tommy Edman drove a slider at the bottom of the zone into shallow center. Smith scores from second and that will do it for Jacob Misiorowski, who was dominating until this inning. He didn’t throw a single pitch in the triple digits that frame.
In comes Abner Uribe to keep the deficit at one for the Brewers, with Teoscar Hernández due up for the Dodgers.

Jacob Misiorowski hung a slider and Will Smith poked it into the outfield. That earns the rookie, who is at 66 pitches, a visit from manager Pat Murphy with Freddie Freeman due up. One out.

The southpaw gets Frelick on three pitches, capped off by a mildly generous call on a high fastball. We’re still tied going into the bottom of the sixth.
That’s one out down, at least nine to go for a bullpen that has only posted three outs total this series entering today.

If there was a question mark in this Dodgers rotation going into the postseason, it was probably Tyler Glasnow, who has massive durability issues and a spotty postseason track record.
In two starts, he’s thrown 11 2/3 innings with five hits allowed, five walks, 16 strikeouts and one run allowed (two if Vaughn scores here). That’s how a good rotation becomes a super-rotation.

Glasnow walks Andrew Vaughn with two outs and that will do it for him at 99 pitches. Alex Vesia enters the game to face Sal Frelick and the fate of Game 3 now rests in the hands of the Dodgers bullpen

Alex Vesia is warming with Tyler Glasnow at 87 pitches through 5 1/3 innings.

A bad Jacob Misiorowski appearance usually consisted of the rookie losing the strike zone and leaving a few too many breaking balls in places where hitters could punish them. That’s not happening today. Misiorowski has struck out eight of 15 batters faced and has retired 10 straight batters, and sits at 59 pitches. His lone hit allowed was an infield single in the second.
However, this is already the most pitches Misiorowski has thrown in three appearances this postseason. He hasn’t broken 60 pitches since Sept. 19, his last start. It doesn’t look like the Brewers are taking him out yet, but we may be nearing that point.

A tidy frame keeps this game tied going into the bottom of the fifth. Glasnow’s at 86 pitches, though, so we are probably about to start seeing action in the Dodgers lineup (ominous thunder sound effect).

A 101 mph fastball is ridiculous. So is a 95 mph slider and 88 mph curveball.

The rookie has seven strikeouts and has allowed just one hit (an infield single) in 3 2/3 innings of work. He’s only thrown 49 pitches, so the Dodgers have some work to do just to get him out of the game.

As good as Glasnow looks, it’s advantage Brewers right now in a tie game. Glasnow is trending toward an exit around the end of the sixth inning, which would make the Dodgers finally use the bullpen for more than one inning, while Misiorowski is on pace to go a bit past the sixth if Milwaukee wants him on a starter’s workload.
