FRITCH, Texas (KVII) — A Fritch police officer who was fired for “alleged misconduct” is also a Hutchinson County Constable.
ABC 7 News discovered through an open records request that the former officer’s name is Roman Alejandro.
According to the police department, Chief Jessica Kay was made aware on Sept 28 of alleged misconduct involving one of her officers.
The department said it “immediately” began looking into the complaint and “quickly” notified the Texas Rangers, which took over the investigation.
Alejandro was immediately placed on administrative leave and then fired on the same day.
He had been with the Fritch PD for four years.
ABC 7 News called and emailed Alejandro and asked if he wanted to share his side of the story about the alleged misconduct.
We’ll let you know when we hear back.
Alejandro was a dual commissioned officer, also serving as a Hutchinson County Constable, Pct. 1, since August 1, 2022.
ABC 7 News contacted County Judge Cindy Irwin, who confirmed Alejandro is still a constable. But she had no comment on the case.
We also reached out to the County Attorney Craig Jones to confirm whether the county or state would take action if Alejandro is charged in the misconduct case.
Jones’ office sent a statement to ABC 7 News on Wednesday evening saying that Alejandro is still serving as Constable for Hutchinson County Precinct 1 until the county determines that action is necessary and appropriate.
ABC 7 News also called and emailed District Attorney Mark Snider to find out whether the Texas Rangers have turned over the results of their investigation yet to his office, and if so, whether charges will be filed.
Snider said his office does not comment on pending investigations.
