Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski held his end of year press conference on Thursday.  Red October came to an abrupt end for the second straight year, and once again, this Phillies team with the fourth-highest payroll could not hit when it counted most.

Dombrowski said a lot without revealing much this week.  Phillies manager Rob Thompson will remain on the job in 2026, and he wants his core players to stay.  I trust Dombrowski will make the right moves to improve the team in the offseason, but time has almost run out on this core group, and with four Key players hitting free agency, Dombrowski has his work cut out for him.

The Birds “Fly” to Minnesota to face the Vikings this Sunday, and look to put an end to their game losing streak at 1 pm on Sunday.  The Eagles, who last played October 9th had a few extra days to heal and prepare.  The expectation is that former Eagles Quarterback Carson Wentz who will get his fourth start at QB for the Vikings this weekend. On Sunday morning, The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be back Broadcasting Live at LaScala’s BeachHouse for our Eagles pregame show.

The Flyers lost to the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night in a disappointing 5-2 game at home.  I attended the game and was alarmed with the lack of attendance with what seemed like empty seats everywhere I looked.

The Flyers lacked intensity on the ice Thursday Night.  Under new Flyers Head coach Rick Tocchet, the Flyers have the fourth-youngest team in the NHL, and they need to play inspired with or without home ice advantage. We will talk about it all this weekend in The Locker Room.

On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and former Kansas City Chiefs WR Dave Klemic will join me in the Studio. We will recap the Phillies’ end-of-year presser. Plus, with the Eagles heading to Minnesota, we will analyze the Birds’ chances against the Vikings.

In Hour Two, we’ll talk Flyers Hockey and play clips from Rick Tocchet’s Thursday night press conference.  Plus, we will get our “High School Athletes in the Spotlight” with Fran McLaughlin brought to you by the Philly Pretzel Factory in Egg Harbor Township.

On Sunday, we will be back at LaScala’s BeachHouse for our Eagles pregame show. Join me, my Agent at the Beach Mark Grimes, Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda, and Josh Hennig as we get you ready for Eagles Football. We’ll get the “Keys to the Game” with Fox 29 News Sports anchor Scott Grayson brought to you by Blitz’s Market of Ocean City.  In Hour Two, my Fantasy Football Guru Brian Hartley checks in with his picks for week 7 in the NFL, brought to you by Charlies Bar of Somers Point.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every SaturdaY and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN Radio South Jersey.
