The Blue Jays slugged their way to an 8-2 victory in Game 4 on Thursday night, their second win in as many nights at Seattle after the Mariners won the first two games of the series in Toronto.

Andrés Giménez’s two-run homer in the top of the third put the Jays up 2-1, and it snowballed from there as five of Toronto’s 11 hits went for extra bases. Veteran Max Scherzer gutted out 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his second homer of the series in the seventh.

Josh Naylor homered off Scherzer in the bottom of the second to give Seattle a short-lived 1-0 lead, but the M’s trailed 5-1 by the time Eugenio Suárez singled home a run in the sixth. Seattle went to the bullpen in the third inning, with lefty Gabe Speier throwing a career-high 32 pitches while surrendering two runs.

Right-hander Bryce Miller of the Mariners and right-hander Kevin Gausman of Toronto reprise their Game 1 matchup on Friday night. Miller allowed a run on two hits in six innings in Seattle’s 3-1 victory, while Gausman surrendered two runs on three hits in 5.2 innings to take the loss.
