There was a tightening at the top of the National League West last week, as the Dodgers and Padres each lost four of six games to American League West teams at home, including weekend sweeps.

The Giants swept an interleague series which fueled a 4-2 weeks, and Arizona won intradivision series over the Giants and Rockies to keep pace, in fourth place but only four games back.

Wilmer Flores hit three home runs for the Giants, and delivered the walk-off walk in the 10th inning on Saturday night against the A’s, for the game’s only run.

Corbin Carroll hit three home runs for the D-backs. Shohei Ohtani hit four home runs for the Dodgers, and rookie Hyeseong Kim was 7-for-9 at the plate for Los Angeles.

The Rockies won a game, but only one, and have lost every single one of their 15 series this season. At 8-38, Colorado owns the worst start through 46 games in modern MLB history.

The Rockies-Diamondbacks series in Phoenix ended with two wildly different games: a 14-12 win by Colorado on Saturday, and a 1-0 Arizona triumph on getaway day. Merrill Kelly won that series finale for the D-backs, and struck out 19 in his two starts for the week, allowing only one run in 14 innings.
