The Twins return to Target Field for the 2025 home opener game versus the Houston Astros on April 3. Fans can enjoy a day full of fun and discover some of the new enhancements at the stadium for the season.
What to Expect on Opening Day
The day begins long before the game with complimentary breakfast on 7th Street by the Twins New Era Team store. Between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., grab a ballpark-inspired breakfast such as hot dogs, chips, breakfast bars, coffee, pop, and ice cream (even a special treat for dogs). Fans will also be able to potentially win Twins Home Opener and Opening Weekend tickets.
The gates will open at 1 p.m. by fan favorites Tony Olivia, Kent Hrbek, Nelson Cruz, Justin Morneau, and Dan Gladden. Kirby Puckett’s children Kirby Puckett Jr. and Catherine Puckett will also be welcoming fans in for the 2025 season. The first 10,000 fans through the gates will also get a free Twin City Connect Beanie.
The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Nelson Cruz, 2021 American League All-Star, and the National Anthem will be performed by cast members of Grease, currently playing at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres through Oct. 4, in recognition of the theater’s late president and artistic director Michael Brindisi.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m.
Ticketless Entry
The arena will also introduce MLB Go-Ahead Entry, an option facial authentication-based ticket validation system. Fans with tickets who are registered for the program on the MLB Ballpark app can just walk right in and avoid ticket scanning. The free-flow, hands-free entry experience is open in designated lanes at Gates 3, 6, 29, and 34.
New Foods
We got a sneak preview of the new foods being sold at Target Field (stay tuned for our complete food reviews.) Highlights from this year’s new foods roster include sweet and sour fried pork from Vinai, TokiDoki Wings (that come in a dry rub or with a sweet gochujang), and cherry bomb sausages from Kramarczuk’s. Bonus? Boba is finally at the stadium thanks to Niko Niko Boba.
Target Field Enhancements
Target Field made various enhancements leading up to the 2025 season to improve efficiency, convenience, and the overall fan experience.
Sections 105 and 109, some of the most highly trafficked concession areas, will open market-style concessions and the main concourse will have self-serve market concepts. Fans can expect a free flowing and quicker shopping experience for a variety of food and drinks including ballpark favorites, ice cream, grab-and-go snacks and beer, and a soda fountain.
The Twins partnered with American Tower to bring 5G to the whole ballpark through a distributed antenna system, expected to begin in September. For the three major mobile network carriers, this will significantly improve download speeds and data uploads, and combined with the existing Wi-Fi 6 system it will improve the entire digital fan journey.
MyVenue will replace the previous point-of-sale technology at all concession and premium seating locations to provide a fast and user-friendly experience for fans to quickly and easily purchase food and beverages. The MyVenue system is used at venues such as Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and The Sphere in Las Vegas.
