HAMLER — Napoleon broke a scoreless tie with some small-ball in the third inning and added three runs in the fourth en route to a 5-0 shutout win over Patrick Henry in nonleague play Saturday at Garrold Parratt Field.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the third inning, as Paul Sausser led off the frame with a bunt single and later stole second base. Parker Woods laid down a sac-bunt to move Sausser to third and he scored on an Owen Espinoza groundout.

In the fourth, Cal Bickel opened the inning with a walk before Mason Trausch ripped a one-out RBI single for a 2-0 lead.

Rowan Bostelman followed with a single and Sausser walked, which allowed Woods to belt a two-RBI single for a 4-0 lead.

The Wildcats added a run in the sixth inning for the 5-0 final.

Trey Rubinstein nabbed the complete-game victory, allowing three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts in seven shutout innings.

Mack Hieber, who entered to pitch in the fourth inning but was moved back to first base after a four-pitch walk, led PH at the plate with a single and two walks. Jaden Bishop and Jackson Meienburg both singled.

Cal Schroeder suffered the loss, allowing just one run and one hit with two walks and two strikeouts across the first three innings. Lane Jackson, Ian Schwab and Grady McKee each pitched in relief after Hieber was removed.

Napoleon (17-5) hosts Evergreen today, while PH (7-13) travels to Edgerton today.

WAUSEON — Wauseon edged Paulding in nonleague play Saturday, scoring a 7-5 win at home.

Rico Vazquez nabbed the win, striking out one in a clean 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Kahle Albright (triple), Max Russell (double), Maddox Schneider and Jack Altstaetter each had a hit and an RBI to pace the Indians at the plate. Thad Reckner added a pair of singles.

Wauseon (8-12) hosts Pettisville in nonleague play today.

ARCHBOLD — Archbold had three players tally multi-hit games, but the Bluestreaks were unable to hold off Tinora in a 13-7 loss Saturday.

Collin Short led the Streaks, belting a double and a home run with three RBI. Broden Piercefield added a single and triple with an RBI, while CJ Arroyo-Thompson had a pair of singles and knocked in a run.

Zach Short earned the no decision, allowing five runs — one earned — and five hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Jace Castillo took the loss, allowing seven runs — three earned — and two hits with four walks and one strikeout in an inning of relief.

Archbold (12-11) travels to Hicksville for a nonleague game Thursday.

METAMORA — Evergreen fell to state-ranked Fairview in a nonleague doubleheader Saturday, losing 6-3 and 17-4 to the Apaches.

Layne Vance paced the Vikings with three hits, finishing a home run short of the cycle for the day. Chris Shrader added three singles and finished with a team-high four RBI, while Bryce Bolger singled and doubled with an RBI. Colton Robertson and John Herdman had two singles apiece.

Evergreen (11-9) is back in action today at Napoleon.

CAREY — Patrick Henry’s softball team won its 19th game of the season with a 7-3 road win over Carey on Saturday.

Mariah Boyer tallied a team-best three hits and drove in a run to lead the Lady Patriots at the plate. Elisiana Wyandt (1B, 2B) and Kenna Rosengarten (2-1B) both added two hits, while Grace Behnfeldt doubled with an RBI.

Faith Meyer picked up the win in the circle, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs and seven hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts.

PH (19-4) takes on Montpelier Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a Division VI district semifinal at Archbold’s Memorial Park.

METAMORA — Evergreen scored a dozen runs over the weekend, but the Vikings could not overcome Lake in 5-3 and 17-9 losses in a nonleague doubleheader.

Evy Shrader steadied the Vikings with two multi-hit games, as she finished with six singles and a pair of RBI. Avah Vaculik added two singles in the opener before hitting a home run and finishing with four RBI in the nightcap.

Also for Evergreen, Marlee Brubaker singled twice and Leah McVey singled with two RBI. Alex Paulson, who singled with two RBI, pitched well in the opener but took the loss. Paulson allowed five runs — three earned — and seven hits with zero walks and zero strikeouts across seven innings.
