Just two days after injuring his knee during Friday’s Game 5 American League Championship Series loss in Seattle, George Springer is in the lineup for the Toronto Blue Jays in Sunday night’s must-win Game 6 against the Mariners.

The Jays, who trail the Mariners 3-2 in the best-of-seven ALCS and must stave off elimination tonight, plan to start Springer as the designated hitter in his typical leadoff spot.

Springer left Friday’s Game 5 in Seattle after taking a pitch off his knee from Seattle’s Bryan Woo.

It took place in the seventh inning of the 6-2 loss at T-Mobile Park. Woo drilled him in the inside of his right knee with a 95.6 mph sinker. Springer fell down, writhing in pain and tried to run it off, as Mariners fans booed, before he reluctantly limped off to the dugout under the help of Jays staff.

Rogers Centre hosts Sunday’s Game 6 and – if needed – a Game 7 on Monday.
