The Milwaukee Brewers are now in the offseason after a frustrating sweep in the 2025 National League Championship Series at the hands of Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Despite their exit from the MLB playoffs, there are plenty of great things to look back on for the Brewers’ 2025 campaign, including the overall performance on the mound by Freddy Peralta.

While he didn’t exactly have a sparkling postseason showing, going 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA in three 2025 playoff starts, the 29-year-old Peralta was a huge contributor to Milwaukee’s franchise record-setting 97-win total.

The Brewers have decisions to make in the offseason following the deeply disappointing conclusion of their 2025 season. Among the moves the team can make is to entertain trade offers for Peralta, whom Milwaukee has a club option on for the 2026 season.

In this case, as the winter unfolds, the Brewers are expected to at least field offers for starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, according to people familiar with the situation who requested anonymity in order to speak freely. Milwaukee holds an $8 million option for 2026 on Peralta, who went 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA and made his second All-Star team this season. The team can afford to retain Peralta, but will feel compelled to at least explore the market for his services, especially given the relative weakness of this class of free-agent pitchers.

Peralta has given Milwaukee several solid years of service, including in the 2025 campaign, in which he got his second MLB All-Star nod. He went 17-6 through 33 starts while posting a 2.70 ERA and 3.65 FIP. His 154 ERA+ in 2025 was also the best of his career, thus far.
