1967 – Riot ensued on the homer

After a homer that hit the foul pole by Houston Astros outfielder Jim Wynn in the first inning almost caused a riot during a 6-2 win for the Astros. San Francisco Giants Manager Herman Franks and umpire Shag Crawford almost agree that the ball was foul, and by the end, another riot started after fellow Astros player Ollie Brown was tossed for something he didn’t say.

Bill Joyce of the New York Giants hit four triples in a game in an 11-5 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This is only the second time in MLB history this feat has been accomplished and that record still remains.

For the first time in MLB history, it is announced that there will be an All-Star game that will be taking place on July 6th at Comiskey Park.

1985 – Jim Pankovits’ career day

In what was a short lived career, Astros infielder Jim Pankovits had the best day of his career during a 7-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, racking up four hits, including a home run and two doubles.
