Editor’s Note: Here is the MLB playoff schedule for Thursday, Oct. 9
The pressure is on in the MLB playoffs.
It’s win or go home for four teams in the divisional round on Oct. 8.
In the American League, the Detroit Tigers will try to stave off elimination in Game 4 at home against the Seattle Mariners after dropping the last two games, while the New York Yankees need another win at home as they face their second straight elimination game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
In the National League, the Chicago Cubs are a loss away from being eliminated by their rival Milwaukee Brewers after going down 0-2 in series. They’re heading home to Wrigley Field for a must-win Game 3. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are in the same hole, but they’re heading on the road after losing both home games in their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Will the Mariners, Blue Jays, Brewers and Dodgers close out their series? Or will the Tigers, Yankees, Cubs and Phillies extend them by at least one more game?

MLB postseason schedule todayGame 4: Seattle Mariners vs. Detroit Tigers, 2:08 p.m.
The two teams had to wait out a nearly three-hour rain delay in Detroit in Game 2 on Oct. 7. When the game finally began, the Mariners were the sharper team and won going away, 8-4, to take their second straight and a 2-1 series lead.
Game 3: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs, 4:08 p.m.
After the Brewers socked three home runs in a Game 2 victory, Pat Murphy’s team will look for a sweep of their division rivals as the series shifts to Chicago for Game 3. Can the Brewers keep the momentum following two exhilarating games in Milwaukee? It would be the Brewers’ first playoff series win since 2018, the last year they also advanced to the NLCS. Right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester gets the ball for the Brewers to face the team he grew up cheering for, while Jameson Taillon starts for Chicago.
Game 4: Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, 6:08 p.m.
The Yankees have life. Falling behind 6-1 early in a must-win Game 3 on Oct. 7 after being blown out in the first two games, the Bronx Bombers roared back to a 9-6 win sparked by Aaron Judge’s three-run homer. Can they do it again to get the series back to Toronto? Or will the Blue Jays regroup and advance to their first ALCS since 2016?
Game 3: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, 8:08 p.m.
The reigning World Series champion Dodgers are looking the part again. Following their 2-0 sweep in the wild-card round over the Cincinnati Reds at home, they opened the NLDS with two wins over the Phillies on the road. Now, they’re back home for Game 3 and looking for a sweep. It would be the Dodgers’ seventh appearance in the NLCS in 10 years.
