Golfers Casey Leebrick of San Luis Obispo and Justin Buenaventura of Lompoc have advanced to final qualifying for the U.S. Open.

Both shot a two-under-70 at a local qualifier at La Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc Thursday to advance. Leebrick and Buenaventura tied for second place, and each earned one of the five spots for the final U.S. Open Qualifying.

The final qualifier for the U.S. Open will take place June 12-15 at  Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.

No. 4 Cerritos College swept its first round best-of-three series against No. 21 Hancock two games to none at Cerritos. Cerritos won 3-0 Friday and 6-1 Saturday.

Hancock mustered just five hits Friday. Isaac Imamura singled home Owen Bolich in the sixth inning Saturday for the Hancock run.

The Bulldogs finished 22-20.

CIF Central Section playoffs

Righetti has drawn the No. 1 seed in Division 3. Fellow Central Coast Athletic Association (CCAA) teams Orcutt Academy and Paso Robles are seeded Nos. 2 and 3 respectively.

Righetti will host No. 16 Lost Hills Wonderful College Prep in the first round Tuesday. Orcutt Academy will go against No. 15 Fresno Christian, and No. 3 Paso Robles will face No. 14 Cabrillo. Righetti won the Sunset League championship.

CCAA members Nipomo, Pioneer Valley and Morro Bay are all in Division 3. No. 5 Nipomo will host No. 12 Fresno Washington Union. No. 10 Morro Bay will play at No. 7 Madera Matilda Torres, and No. 13 Pioneer Valley will play at No. 4 Reedley in first-round matches. Pioneer Valley won the Ocean League championship.

Mountain League champion Santa Ynez drew the No. 8 seed in Division 2. The Pirates will host No. 9 Fresno McLane in the first-round. Top seed Arroyo Grande and No. 3 seed San Luis Obispo both drew a first-round bye. Santa Ynez beat both Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo twice in league play.

There are no CCAA teams in Division 1. 

All first-round matches will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. unless otherwise agreed to by both schools.

Mountain League Tournament No. 6

Templeton won the five-team tournament at San Luis Obispo Country Club Friday with a team score of 392. Santa Ynez finished fifth at 437.

Brayden Mlodzik led Santa Ynez with a team score of 81. Cody Armenta (83), Max Andrade (88), Elijah Navarro (92) and Seb Perez (93) followed in the team scoring.

Santa Ynez 449, Cabrillo 488

The Pirates beat the Conquistadores in a non-league match at The Mission Club in Lompoc Wednesday.

Mlodzik led Santa Ynez with an 83. Ernesto Suarez (86), Perez (91), Cameron Celestin (94) and Navarro (95) followed in the team scoring.

Jack Jones pitched a six-hit complete game, and the Braves scored six times in the sixth inning to topple the Warriors in a Mountain League game at Lompoc Friday.

Cameron Baker drove in two runs in the six-run Lompoc sixth. Kasch Kubasiewicz and Aidan Vallarta both had an RBI. Blake Thayer drove in the Righetti run in the third.

Lompoc moved to 12-10, 6-7. Righetti is 15-10, 8-5. Lompoc will host Arroyo Grande in a league game Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Righetti will host league champion St. Joseph at the same time.

The Warriors beat the Titans in a non-league game at Nipomo Saturday. Nipomo will host league champion Morro Bay in an Ocean League game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Righetti 3, Arroyo Grande 2

Ember Hendricks drove in Natalia Cervantes in the bottom of third inning with the winning run on a sacrifice fly, and the Warriors (18-6, 10-3) stayed in contention for the outright Mountain League championship.

Righetti trails St. Joseph by a game with two league games left. Righetti will host Lompoc Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. then play a 4:30 p.m. game Friday at St. Joseph.

The Warriors spotted the Eagles a run in the first inning Friday. Hendricks doubled home Meghan Calderon and Cervantes in the bottom of the first. Arroyo Grande (7-17, 4-8) tied the game in the top of the third then Hendricks hit the game-winning sacrifice fly.

Righetti starter Kloey Acuna pitched 4 2/3 innings to get the win. Reliever Kylie Cheney pitched a scoreless 2.1 innings to earn the save.   

Coastal Christian 34, Valley Christian Academy 1

The Conquerors (8-2, 3-0) overwhelmed the Lions (4-7, 4-2) at VCA Friday and clinched the Coast Valley League championship.

VCA finished second in the CVL and likely qualified for the CIF Southern Section Playoffs. At press time, the Lions were set to finish their regular season with a non-league game at Santa Maria Monday at 4:30 p.m.
