ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Austin Riley were named National League Silver Slugger award finalists on Wednesday.

Olson is up against Los Angeles Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman and New York Mets’ Pete Alonso as the three NL Silver Slugger finalists, while Riley, San Diego Padres’ Manny Machado and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Max Muncy are the three NL third base finalists.

The award is given to the best offensive players at each position in each league, as voted by coaches and managers.

The winners will be revealed on Nov. 6.

Olson, 31, had an exceptional season, one that flew under the radar for many. He’s up for his second Silver Slugger award after recording an .850 OPS — his second-best mark as a Brave — as well as 29 homers and 95 RBIs while playing in all 162 games for the fourth consecutive season. He also led the league with 41 doubles.

In addition, Olson is a finalist for the NL Gold Glove award.

As for Riley, the 28-year-old slashed .260/.309/.428 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs before a core injury cut his season short after 102 games. Riley previously won the award in 2021 and 2023.

No Braves have earned the award since Ronald Acuña Jr. in 2023.
