Blue Jays executive no longer in running for top Rockies job

Earlier, it had been reported that Click, who serves as the Blue Jays Vice President of Baseball Strategy, was one of three known candidates to have been interviewed by the Colorado Rockies, who are in need of a general manager.Now, Ken Rosenthal and Brittany Ghiroli report that Click, along with Kansas City Royals assistant GM Scott Sharp have been eliminated from consideration. UPDATE: Diamondbacks Senior Vice President & Assistant GM Amiel Sawdaye and Cleveland’s Matt Forman are reportedly two of the finalists for the Rockies top front office job.

Click has GM experience too, spending three years in charge of the Houston Astros before a falling out with owner Jim Crane, led to him rejecting a one year offer and instead join the Blue Jays front office team.
As well, Click and the Blue Jays seem like a good fit. The Rockies are in the midst of a massive re-build after finishing a major league-worst 43 and 119 in 2025, while Toronto has been lauded for their long-term baseball strategy and approach to building a contender, much of which falls on the shoulders of Click.
Rockies searching for new GM as well as manager
The Rockies are expected to make a decision on who will be their General Manager soon. Afterwards, they will turn their focus into hiring a new field manager for the 2026 season after longtime skipper Bud Black was let go and third base coach Warren Schaeffer was named interim manager for the rest of the season.
Click, who seems is Toronto, will now be officially staying put.
