A trio of Seattle Mariners – catcher Cal Raleigh, center fielder Julio Rodríguez and second baseman Jorge Polanco – were named American League Silver Slugger Award finalists on Thursday.
The Silver Slugger Awards are given annually to the best hitter in the league at each position, as determined by voting from managers and players. The Silver Slugger winners will be announced on Nov. 7.
Every reason the M’s ‘have to have Josh Naylor’ back in 2026
Raleigh, who has been a Silver Slugger finalist all four years of his career, is widely expected to win the award for the first time after his record-setting 60-homer season. The other AL finalists at catcher are Shea Langeliers of the Athletics and Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals.
Rodríguez is an AL outfield finalist along with Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays, Cody Bellinger of the Yankees, Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins and Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers. Rodríguez was a Silver Slugger in both 2022 and 2023, which made him the only player to win the award in each of his first two seasons.
Polanco is a Silver Slugger finalist for the second time in his 11-year career. He joins Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Yankees and Brandon Lowe of the Tampa Bay Rays as the AL finalists at second base.
The Mariners are also a finalist for the AL Silver Slugger Team of the Year Award. The other AL finalists are the Yankees and the pennant-winning Blue Jays.
