It makes the most sense for Tennessee’s current players to stay with the program despite the coaching change, but some recruits could flip their commitments. However, unlike the transfer portal, it is unlikely they flip to Georgia due to the narrative surrounding freshmen’s lack of playing time.

The Bulldogs lost all five of their true freshmen from last season’s 39-man roster to the transfer portal, which turned away at least one recruit.

“I just don’t feel like the current model in Athens is beneficial for me coming in as a freshman,” a recruit messaged Dawgs247. “It’s definitely not about guaranteed playing time, but more about understanding that they’ll even be an opportunity to compete.”

The Bulldogs could flip the narrative this season with contributions from freshmen like Ty Peeples, Cole Johnson, Joe Nottingham and Jackson Peavy.
