Lowndes Academy senior Grant Casey has announced his commitment to play collegiate baseball. After considering offers from three schools, the multi-sport student-athlete selected Lurleen B. Wallace Community Colleges where he intends to play baseball after graduation.

“I’m extremely blessed and thankful to announce my commitment to Lurleen B. Wallace CC,” Casey said in a social media announcement. I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity and my family for helping me throughout my baseball career. [Thank you to my] teammates and all the coaches that have helped me get to where I am today.”

Casey is pitcher for the Rebels and also plays football for Lowndes Academy. His baseball coach, Colton Mathis, described Casey as a hard-working athlete.

“This kid works harder than anybody I’ve ever seen,” Mathis said. “He works out multiple times a day, and he gets after it, playing summer ball. He’s playing football and fall ball. He’s busy with baseball 24/7.”
