TEMPLE — Royse City’s run in the Class 6A, Division II baseball playoffs ended with a loss to Cypress Woods in a regional semifinal series.

Cypress Woods won 6-0 and 5-1 to advance to the region finals to play Tomball, an 11-1 winner over Tyler Legacy.

Royse City finished the season with a 27-8 record.

Cypress Woods scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the second game after the two teams battled to a 1-1 deadlock for seven innings.

Royse City pitcher Peyton Peoples allowed six hits and one earned run in seven innings with four strikeouts. Regan Williams gave up five hits, two walks and four earned runs in one inning of relief.

Cypress Woods pitcher Ross Sullivan allowed only four hits and one earned run in seven innings with 11 strikeouts. Jackson Harris pitches a scoreless inning in relief.

Peoples slugged a solo home run in the second inning for the Bulldogs’ only run. Eli Snow doubled. Harrison Hickey and Cale Austin singled.

Aiden Haby pounded four hits, including a double to lead the 23-10-4 Wildcats at the plate.

In the Wildcats’ 6-0 victory Cypress Woods pitcher Cameron Neumann limited the Bulldogs to only three hits in seven innings with four strikeouts.

Williams, Hickey and Cale Austin had Royse City’s three hits.

Royse City, the District 10-6A champion, swept Wylie East, 4-1 and 3-2, in their bi-district series and then beat  Cedar Hill, 11-1 and 5-4, to sweep the area series.
