After a fruitful weekend north of the border, the Detroit Tigers get set to open a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night.
The Tigers had a strong end to their most recent homestand, sweeping the Boston Red Sox thanks to a couple of dramatic wins. Then, the team traveled north of the border to take on the Toronto Blue Jays, and took care of business, using the longball and timely defense to take two of three to begin the road trip.
Detroit, having now won six of its past seven games, extends its lead atop the American League Central, sitting five games up on the Minnesota Twins as we close in on the end of the month.

They will finish up their road trip back in the Midwest, taking on the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-game interleague series, before returning home this weekend against the Cleveland Guardians.
